D4 Advanced Media Announces Partnership with Vertical Explorers
to Launch Research Capsule into Upper Atmosphere to Record Solar Eclipse

Reno, Nevada – D4 Advanced Media today announced a partnership with VerticalExplorers.com to sponsor and provide cameras for the deployment of HABv3 – Solar Explorer, a high altitude balloon capsule that will be deployed on August 21, 2017 in Garden Valley, Idaho. It’s mission is to capture and record high-definition footage of the once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse within the path of totality and in the upper atmosphere (above 100,000 ft).

“We expect to see a unique perspective on what is one of nature’s most awe-inspiring sights – a total solar eclipse.” Said John Dunlap, President D4 Advanced Media.

The Solar Explorer will be carrying a payload capsule of ten GroPro cameras positioned strategically throughout the capsule to capture the eclipse. It will be lifted by a Kaymont 1200g high altitude helium balloon which will travel to about 100,000 ft over Garden Valley, Idaho. Once it’s altitude has been reached, it will float back to earth where it will be recovered and it’s footage and telemetry analyzed.

Careful planning and calculations have been made to ensure the capsule’s launch and flight path will put it in perfect position to capture the solar eclipse. Weather patterns and recent forecasts suggest the mission will be a success.
